Florence M Gates

Florence M. Kann, 86, of Emigsville, died Saturday evening at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Raymond H. "Skip" Kann.

The service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the William E. Little Funeral Home Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kann was born Dec. 11, 1911, in York County. She was the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Hoffman) Gates.

She worked at D&D Sewing Co., retiring after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Emigsville.

Mrs. Kann is survived by a son, Lynn J. Kann of York; a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, E. William Gates and Ivan Gates, both of York. Mrs. Kann was preceded in death by a son, Raymond D. "Skip" Kann; and a grandson.

Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Stephen W. Yambor.

Gladys R Snyder

YORK Gladys R. (Snyder) Kann, 90, died at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of Rufus A. Kann, who died on October 9, 1996. Mrs. Kann was born February 24, 1919, in Red Lion, and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Virgie (Markle) Snyder. She graduated from Red Lion High School in 1936 and later worked for over 20 years as a sales clerk in the dry cleaning business. Gladys was a member of Grace Lutheran Church (Roundtown), York. Mrs. Kann is survived by one daughter, Judy Swift of York; two sons, John Kann of Lewisberry and James Kann of York; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one sister, Annabelle Ellis of York. Gladys was preceded in death by a grandson and two greatgrandchildren. A funeral service to remember the life of Mrs. Kann will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Springettsbury Twp., York. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Stephen Yambor, from Grace Lutheran Church.

440. Arthur Leroy Kann

Obituary for Arthur L. Kann: Sun City West, Ariz. - Arthur L. Kann of Sun City West, Ariz. formerly of York, died unexpectedly Friday in Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz. He was 80. Mr. Kann was an engineer for the former Borg Warner Co. later York International for more than 30 years. He was born in Franklin Co. He leaves his wife Mary Elizabeth Wentz Kann; a daughter, Ardith Senft, Glendale, Ariz.; a son, Douglas Kann, Fort Myers, Fla.; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Strohm, Newville, Cumberland Co. A memorial service is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Phoenix, Ariz. Memorial contributions made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 9424 N. 7th Ave. Phoenix, Ariz. 85021. The Greer Mortuary, 5921 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix, is in charge of arrangements.
